Info

1. General information:

Yes, it's true, there will be held another Kindergarden! This years edition is the 10th KG (when counting in the first tiny parties) so we want to make this party extra cool to celebrate the anniversary. How we'll do this will remain a secret until the party starts but as usual there will be lot's of cool compos, nice atmosphere and of course 100% scenespirit. KG is also still one of the best parties to visit if you're a fan of Amiga computers. In the past KG was 100% focused on Amiga but at the last 2 parties we also allowed the PC to have it's own compos. We do not wish to exclude someone because he/her prefer another platform. This time we even have a separate compo for the C64.

Read on for more information.

2. Where and when:

The party will be held at Haga Samfunnshus. The place Haga is located in a part of Akershus county called Nes. Akershus is a neighbour county to Oslo. To make the story short, it's the same place as for KG 2017-16.

The doors open at 18:00 on Friday the 28th of february.

The doors close at 15:00 on Sunday the 2nd of march.

The entrance fee will be 250 NOK (around 33 euro/36$). Girls can get in for free but can volunteer to pay the 250 NOK if they like to support us and if they consider them selves real sceners. The fee for foreigners will be 150 NOK (about 20 euro/22$).

Paying the entrance fee in advance is no longer possible.

Getting there:

By car:
Going by car can be a bit complicated. To find your route go to www.visveg.no/visveg. Search for Haga in Nes in Akershus county (Nes(AK)). The party place has no streetadress but it is located 150 meters from Haga trainstation. The trainstation is visible on the map at visveg.no.

By plane:
Go by airplane to Oslo Airport Gardermoen in Norway, then follow the instructions for going by train.

By train:
Catch the train for Årnes at Oslo S and get off at Haga. If your coming from Oslo Airport Gardermoen you have to catch the train for Oslo S, but get off at Lillestrøm (before Oslo) and change to the Årnes train. See www.nsb.no for timetables and more detailed info. Haga trainstation is located 150 meters from the partyplace.

By taxi:
You can actually go by taxi from the airport or from Oslo but that's extremly expensive.

By bus:
A bus from Årnes can be used to arrive just at the doorstep of the partyplace. Bus 889 for Rånåsfoss. Get off at Haga. Check www.trafikanten.no for timetables.

If you have problems finding the way, be free to phone one of the organizers. Please notice, however, that we can not supply any means of transportation for you or your equipment.

3. Partyfeatures:

The Partyplace

· There is space for about 100 people. There are ofcourse enough tables and chairs.

· The place has enough power for everyone.

· No fucking stealing of equipment! We've not had problems with this before and we don't want it now.

· Space for sleeping! Last time there were hardly anywhere to sleep but we've now found some space for you tired sceners. The section we used as a kitchen last time will now be used as a sleepingarea. There is a sliding door that can be use to close off the area. We cannot guarantee it will keep all the noise out but at least we'll try to keep it warm and dark in there.

· Showers. Yes, it's true! The showers will be available on saturday between 12:00 and 16:00. They are located in a building near by.

· A network will be set up (probably 100Mbit) The network will also feature some fileservers that will carry scene-related releases (including the results and releases of this and previous KG's). We'll use the network for voting and delivering of compoentries as well. Please note that we DO NOT offer connection to the internet. Unfortunatly the party locations are not connected.

Happenings, Entertainment and Leisure Activities:

· Cool compos.

· We will be showing alot of demos/animations/scenestuff (when not running compos of course).

· The official KG turntables : Nike/TRSI aka Dj Brokebeat and Xhale/Haujobb will be spinning records.

· More will be announced later on.

Food and beverages

· This year we have a kitchen crew and they'll be serving food like: pizza, toast, waffles and various cold drinks.

· If you should feel like buying food outside KG there are some stores and gas stations located some kilometers from the partyplace. You'll be needing a car to reach these as it's a long way to walk. We'll put up a map here later on to help you find your way.

4. Rules and regulations:

The rules are simple. We do not want to control your life. Just be nice.

· No fucking stealing of equipment! We've not had problems with this before and we don't want it now. But take good care of your stuff anyway! Every time some unlucky few leave things behind or loose their stuff. We do usually send things we find back to the owner but we'de be happy not to have to do this again this year :-)

· We do not allow anyone selling anything without WRITTEN permission from the organizers.

· You are allowed to drink alcohol but notice that too intoxicated persons will be thrown out or given a good flushing in the toilet. Don't drink more than you can handel. This will save both us and yourself from alot of trouble.

· Puking inside the hall will be fined with 200 NOK. Please use a toilet if you suddenly have an urge.

· Smoking is not allowed inside.

· Illegal drugs are of course not allowed!

· We have set an 18-years-of-age limit for attenders of KG. If you're under 18 and consider your self a scener or want to become one we'll consider letting you in :-) Contact the organizers if you're underaged and really wanna go to KG.

· Any damage to personal and public property must be paid for.

· We can and will not take the responsibility for any kinds of theft or injuries. Not even injuries by our big guards. You have no witnesses.

· No tagging etc inside the partyarea. We WILL catch the ones who do this, and we WILL beat them up and throw them in the trash. (After taking all their money and calling their parents.)

· Norwegian laws act as normal ofcourse.

· Be polite and smile when the organizers try to fix your problems and don't bitch the organizers all the time if you can fix something yourself without us noticing. (But stay away from the power!) :-)

5. The Kindergarden FAQ

There will always be something that people wonder about, and will call us voice and nag about. This should answer most of your queries.

Q: Can we reserve tables at Kindergarden for our group?
A: No, sorry. But there should be no need. Just come in time and grab a lot of space.

Q: I'm a gamer. Can I come to KG?
A: No! Die! But seriosly, if you go to KG to play games you really are in the wrong place. Kindergarden has it's focus on the demoscene and not gaming. But if you're curious and want to see what this demoscene thing is all about then KG is a perfect place to learn. Talk to the sceners there and watch the compos. We're sure you'll be inspired.

Q: Can I bring my microwave oven/fridge/etc?
A: Sure, if you bring your own supply of power. :)

Q: Is there any bustrips to Kindergarden from foreign countries?
A: Check newsgroups or scenerelated websites. We will put information about this on our website if we receive any.

Q: Can I steal some equipment at the party? I really want that harddisk.
A: Sure. Can we rip out all your nails, beat you to a blood pulp with a baseball bat and put needles in your testicles?

Q: Can we stretch the deadlines?
A: Can we stretch the competitions? Earlier we've been quite flexible when it comes to deadlines. TOO flexible. Because of this we didn't have enough time to prepare the compos. If you want the compos to run smooth without delays then you can contribute by delivering your entry in time. Deadlines will be announced later on.

Q: What's this rumour I hear about there being an 18-year limit?
A: Limiting the party to those of eighteen years of age or older allows us to avoid the rapidly increasing number of 14 year old gamers and it means that the visitors acts more responsible and fair. And we don't see the limit as a problem since most of the people usually attending KG are over 18 anyway. If you really wanna come to KG even if you're underaged then contact the organizers and ask for an invitation. This should be no problem if your're a scener or want to become one :-)
